Workflow Fragrance Co.
Workflow fragrances are designed to develop on skin, not reveal everything in the first few seconds. This guide explains how I recommend wearing them, what changes as they dry down, and a few fragrance terms that make the experience easier to understand.
Build a scent field
Start at the back of the wrist and spray along the top and outer side of the arm toward the shoulder. Add the sides of the neck, the back of the neck and tops of the shoulders, then the center of the chest and upper torso.
These areas create a broad field of fragrance across the parts of your body that move through the air. Arm movement and airflow across the shoulders, back and chest help the scent project around you and leave a trail as you move.
Spray. Let it dry.
Let the fragrance dry naturally on your skin. Do not rub your wrists together or massage the fragrance into the skin. Give it a moment to settle before putting your nose directly against the spot you sprayed.
Keep checking back
If you enjoy the fragrance when you first spray it, pay attention again around 30 minutes later and then again near the one-hour mark. The opening is only the beginning. As the brighter materials fade, the heart and drydown become clearer and the fragrance settles into the character it was built to have.
A single wrist spray tells you very little
These fragrances are meant to be worn across the body and experienced while you move. A tiny test spray can tell you what the opening smells like, but it cannot show you the full projection, trail or drydown.
Your skin becomes part of the formula
Heat, skin chemistry, humidity, clothing and weather can all change the way a fragrance develops and performs. That is why the same fragrance can feel brighter, warmer, softer or more powerful from one person or day to the next.
The drydown matters
I spend a lot of time on what remains after the opening disappears. Woods, mosses, musks, resins, florals and other structural materials often become more noticeable later in the wear. The fragrance you smell several hours in is not an afterthought. It is part of the design.
Store it like fragrance
Keep the bottle away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and constant temperature swings. A cool, dark cabinet or drawer is a better home than a sunny bathroom counter.
