The brain is constantly sorting, comparing and organizing sensory information, and gamma-band activity has been observed as part of that process. I wanted to build a fragrance around that moment between \u003cstrong\u003erecognition and uncertainty\u003c\/strong\u003e — when something feels familiar, but you can’t immediately decide what it is.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThat is exactly how Gamma Waves behaves.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eIt moves between transparent woods, violet, orris, soft powder, warm skin and airy floral texture. Different facets seem to appear, disappear and return depending on distance, movement, skin and time.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eInterestingly, despite being one of the more abstract fragrances I’ve created, it has also become \u003cstrong\u003eone of the most consistently liked purely for the way it smells.\u003c\/strong\u003e You don’t need to understand the concept to enjoy it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe name has a second meaning as well.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eGamma Waves refers both to the gamma-band activity associated with olfactory perception and to \u003cstrong\u003eMethyl Ionone Gamma\u003c\/strong\u003e, one of the materials that gives the fragrance its violet, orris, powdery and woody character.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eSo the name connects the idea behind the fragrance with the material that helped give it its identity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003ePerception.
